Our tool (Trase) is not designed to be a solution for EUDR compliance (e.g. we do not provide plot-level traceability), but is a tool for understanding more broadly the supply chains in which deforestation is most likely to be concentrated. We do this by bringing together various publicly available data sources, with some modelling work, to map the supply chains as best we can for key forest-risk commodities and countries (e.g. Brazilian soy, Indonesian palm oil, cocoa from Cote d'Ivoire) and then link this with deforestation data.
In the EUDR context, we believe this information can be a useful starting point to prioritise action (e.g. to help European authorities identify operators and geographies where attention could be focussed) but it is probably of limited use from the perspective of operators themselves, and is not appropriate for assessing compliance. |
